The Spanish proverb collection, very rich in all kinds of sayings, has a long list of proverbs about what is understood by “debt”.
One of the most positive is:
-There is no deadline that does not arrive, nor debt that is not paid.
Of course, there are many others pointing to the negative.
In any case, it is one of the main headaches for individuals, companies, institutions and even countries.
Debt refers both to the obligation to pay – not necessarily money – and to compensate for what we have received from a third person or institution, or even a country.
If we refer strictly to economics, regardless of how it affects each of us, debt is its main engine, because it finances growth and investment, and allows businesses and governments, through future commitments, to generate wealth in multiple ways.
Of course, they can also have disastrous consequences, and that’s where the honesty of those involved in the equation is called into question.
Over time, we have seen it all (and there is more to come), and we worry when solutions to alleviate debt do not prioritize the common good, especially when paths are taken where respect is destroyed, for the benefit of one of the parties, even imposing their morality to transform everything into a burden for the other party.
For that reason, in our new newsletter we dedicated a post to it, precisely with that title “THE DEBT”.
And before we go in, a thought for SCOTT ADAMS who passed away this week. With DILBERT, a comic strip about the business world, not only made us laugh, but also learn (a lot) about what the meaning of entrepreneurship, making money, or being a good negotiator should be, even though he fills his stories with nonsense.
He was an admirer of Trump: perhaps that’s why he was able to reflect that way of understanding business so well?
As they called it JACK LEMMON at the end of CON FALDAS Y A LO LOCO: NOBODY’S PERFECT!
The resentment that dwells in our hearts means that, from now on, our public image will always be happy… we have enough to deal with in reality! So a little bit of good cheer never hurts.
That said, it will be related to the topics we cover for the occasion. For example, the original title of the film of BILLY WILDER was “SOME LIKE IT HOT“…something like “Some people like it hot”: Mafia, machine guns, beautiful girls, orchestras where everyone plays their own music, men who are not what they seem, raw confessions…
Any resemblance to reality is purely coincidental.
Coincidence or causality?
And also another great one who left us about thirty years ago, but who will be with us forever, ISAAC ASIMOV, and one of the most renowned science fiction authors, put it in the mouth of one of his characters in FOUNDATION the following sentence:
-Violence is the last resort of the incompetent.
… Again, coincidence or causality?
Publicaciones Singulares
We already mentioned it last week. That program on TVE 1 dedicated to opera.
This week was the final of ARIA and each finalist was a winner.
I’ll start with a lyrical version of VIVA LA VIDA of COLDPLAY and KLAUDYA TERUEL ulimateley finished in first place with CASTA DIVA.
Please come back soon.
But even with that moment of pleasure that comes from enjoying talent, and especially the hope that comes from knowing that something so difficult can produce such a wonderful effect on an audience lulled to sleep by the noise of social media, the most fascinating thing was witnessing an experience that surpasses practically everything I’ve ever lived through, seeing how a little girl, barely two years old, ate an omelet and drank a glass of milk sitting on the floor because it was warm, and watched, fascinated, the performance on the program of “Papagena, Papageno” of “THE MAGIC FLUTE” of MOZART where two prodigious voices made us believe they were little birds courting in a unique garden, with complicity and skill, aided by an always brilliant orchestra and a wardrobe that goes beyond what good taste is.
Pure wonder.
But the moment didn’t end there.
She had previously been amazed to hear the version of “DIE WITH A SMILE”, the duet of BRUNO MARS AND LADY GAGA and when it was all over, instead of going to sleep (it was very, very, very late) she wanted to hear the song again.
Her father, used to singing, wanted to recreate it for her like a lullaby, but the little girl wanted to hear it again like on the show.
Laughing his head off, trying to get over his heartbreak, he decided to respect her taste and put it on again… and when it was over, she pressed play, once, twice, three times, four and even five times.
She probably won’t understand the lyrics of the most beautiful song of 2025, but what is clear is that there is still hope for the world if a girl used to hearing her mom and dad sing at home becomes passionate about this luxury.
We also have more than one talent at our company. Here’s the version of ANA GORDILLO, which we referenced in our post about SINGULAR TALENTS.
And finally, irrefutable proof that this music and its lyrics will go down in history: Listen to it on these TWO VOICES.
As the song lyrics say:
– If the party was over and our time on Earth was through I’d wanna hold you just for a while And die with a smile.
This is something no bully or abuser would ever hear. They probably wouldn’t even understand, or perhaps they have so many personal scars and so much accumulated hatred that instead of managing their own issues, they try to replicate them in others. Therefore, these kinds of phrases feel like an attack to them because of their limited empathy and communication skills, making them the kind of people who inspire terror, as the song says, “making our time run out.”
And now, to finish up, a recommendation for a film made in 1987 by ten famous directors: Robert Altman, Bruce Beresford, Jean-Luc Godard, Derek Jarman, Franc Roddam, Nicolas Roeg, Ken Russell, Charles Sturridge, Julien Temple and Bill Bryden.
Your title: ARIA (Surprise!). Ten short films dedicated to the most emblematic arias.
If you’re more into reggaeton, or you think opera is for old people: give it a chance.
You might even be surprised and press play a few times.
